Begin to pray for our revival scheduled for May 3 - 6 with evangelist Chuckie Chandlar. We are believing that great things will come from God during this special time.

Now Is The Hour

Tommorrow's service will continue the sermon series thought of "Discerning the Times." In Ephesians 5, Paul encourages us to realize three things:

1. Our time on earth is limited.

2. We should make the most of every opportunity.

3. We must understand what the Lord's will is.

Richard Swenson wrote a book in which he talks about the major distractions of today's society - Anxiety & Stress. He says that people are continually "overloaded."

1. We are overloaded with commitments.

2. We are overloaded with possesions.

3. We are overloaded with work.

4. We are overloaded with information.

When we learn how to overcome our anxieties and stress we will learn how to understand God's will and follow Him into abundant living. Paul writes, "The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now that when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light" (Romans 13: 11-12).

Pastor Ron & Pamela have begun a new project of renovating the master bedroom in the parsonage. Above are some before pictures. We will post the finished product pictures as soon as we are done. Hopefully, it won't take too long. We are sleeping on the living room floor until the project is finished.

Food Pantry Board of Directors Meeting

There will be a Board of Directors meeting for the Food Pantry tonight at 6:30 p.m. If you have any questions or suggestions for the CARE Package you are invited to attend this meeting and submit your ideas to us.

Softball Practice

Coed softball practice will be Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. at the church. Bring your gloves, bats and equipment with you.

Discerning the Times

Pastor Ron continued his sermon series from Ephesians 5: 14 - 17, as he preached a message inspired from Steve Malone's series on "One Month to Live." Yesterday's message was entitled Living the Dash!" Every tombstone has a birth-date and a death date, separated by a dash. The dash represents our lives. What we do in the dash of life determines where we will spend eternity.

Malone mentions 4 universal principles that Christ has given us to live by. He taught us to:

1. Live Passionately

2. Love Completely

3. Live Humbly

4. Lead Boldly

Aaron Wilburn tells the story of a man who was given the strangest name by his parents at his birth. They named him, Odd. The man hated his name. He was always the object of laughter and scorn because of his unusual name. People would make fun of him for being Odd. After many years of enduring this kind of ridicule, he became ill and was facing certain death. He called his family to his bed-side and expressed his love for each one of them. Then, he instructed his wife and children, that when he passed away, he did want his name to be listed on his tombstone. He just wanted the date of his birth and the date of his death listed. And sure enough, when he passed away his family followed his wishes. The place for his name was left blank on the headstone and only the dates of his birth and death are listed. And to this day, whenever people pass by his tombstone and see the empty name plate, they will stop and remark, "Isn't that Odd!"

Food Pantry Staff

The CARE Package Food Pantry Staff was extremely busy this past Saturday. The group served approximately 90 families for a total of 350 people. Our shelves were completely emptied. We had 40 brand new families show up for assistance. It was a great opportunity to minister the gospel to them and extend God's love. A special thanks to everyone who participated in the activity.

Bishop James Adkins

The CCC J.O.Y Club had a wonderful time today, as we shared in food, fun and fellowship. We were blessed to have Bishop James Adkins as our special guest. Brother Adkins shared the wonderful truth that we don't have to yield to our past, and can enjoy our present situation in spite of circumstances.

His message was very inspirational and encouraging. We will be providing written copies for everyone who desires them.

Bishop Adkins has been a tremendous inspiration to our church for many years. We deeply appreciate his kindness and faithfulness to God, and are looking forward to his return visit in the future.

Discerning the Times

Pastor Ron began a new sermon series entitled, "Discerning the Times!" Someone shared a story recently about a group of Native Americans living on a remote reservation many years ago. It was autumn, and the Indians on the remote reservation asked their new Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a new Indian Chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets, and when he looked at the sky, he couldn’t tell what the weather was going to be. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he replied to his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect wood to be prepared. But also being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, "Is the coming winter going to be cold?" "It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold indeed," the meteorologist at the weather service responded. So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more wood in order to be prepared. A week later he called the National Weather Service again. "Is it going to be a very cold winter?" "Yes," the man at National Weather Service again replied, "it’s going to be a very cold winter." The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of wood they could find. Two weeks later he called the National Weather Service again. "Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?" "Absolutely," the man replied. "It’s going to be one of the coldest winters ever." "How can you be so sure?" the Chief asked. The weatherman replied, "Because the Indians are collecting wood like crazy!"

One of the greatest challenges of the modern-day church is to connect to the surrounding world and be relevant within our culture.

Paul encourages us, in Ephesians 5, to redeem the time because the days are evil. When so much around us that seems to be happening is consummed by sin and wickedness, we find comfort in the hope that God is in control.

We live in a time where God wants to fill our hearts, minds, souls and churches with His love and grace. Be ready to embrace the favor of God, everyday, and look forward to His coming with heightened anticipation!

Coed Softball

CCC will once again field a Coed Softball Team. If you are 16 years and older, then you are invited to join us for some great fun and fellowship. If you would like to play on the team, please contact P. J. Behan.

J.O.Y. Club

The J.O.Y. (Just Over Youth) Club will meet at the church on Tuesday, March 17th at 11:30 a.m. The special speaker for the day's event will be Bishop James Adkins from Collinsville, AL. Participants are asked to bring a covered dish to share with everyone.
