Picnic at the Parsonage
Our annual Picnic at the Parsonage is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, August 31st.
The Care Package
Adult Bible Study
Tonight's Bible Study will deal with the topic of Hell. The doctrine of Hell is one of the most neglected doctrines in all of Scripture. When hell is mentioned today, it is generally ridiculed, as if the whole idea were so old-fashioned that only the naive and ignorant would believe that such a place existed. However, the Scriptures are clear that such a place does exist, and has a purpose in the plan of God's righteousness and judgement.

This morning's worship service was celebrated by a wonderful visitation into the presence of God. The Lord moved throughout the congregation, as people were touched by God's wonderful grace. Pastor Ron preached a message entitled, Wake Up, Sleeping Beauty, and the Lord's anointing was evident through His Word. He encouraged the Church to recognize it's place in the purpose of God's Kingdom and to ". . . walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5: 15 - 16). Following the worship service everyone stayed around to celebrate Pamela Martin's birthday. It was a great day of fellowship.
Forward '08 Was Awesome
The Forward '08 Conference in Atlanta, GA was absolutely awesome. The music and ministry was tremendous as the Lord moved through the packed arena of young people. There were 30 folks from the CCC who attended the conference this year. We hope to have some pictures of the group posted in the next few days.

Wednesday Bible Study
Tonight's Bible study on Biblical Principles will deal with the subject of Patience. Patience seems to be a virtue that many desire, but few possess. The story is told of a man in Los Angelas, CA. who was arrested for the negligent discharge of a weapon after shooting his toilet bowl five times with a .38 caliber handgun. He claims that he just lost his cool. He couldn't take it any longer. His daughter had accidently flushed a hairbrush down the toilet and the pipes were totally clogged. The man's frustration led him to shooting the offending toilet. There is no word on the toilet's condition, but the man's patience is MIA (missing in action).
Someone once:
Someone once:
Patience is a virtue,
Possess it if you can.
Found seldom in a woman,
Never in a man.

Food Bank Ministry
The Food Bank Ministry is beginning to take shape. We thank the Lord for Shelia Cardin obeying God this past Sunday as a tremendous offering was given to help stock the shelves with food. A special thanks to Wayne and Nate Sutherlin & Harold Terry for getting the room ready for inspection.
The Forward Conference youth trip will begin early Thursday morning. Those who are going on the trip will need to be at the church by 8:00 a.m. The Forward Conference is an annual event for our youth group. We look forward to them returning to CCC energized by the presence of God. Pastor Jentzen Franklin and Free Chapel Church will again host this event.

Lessons from the Ant
The sermon topic for yesterday's message was, "Creating A Dynamic Spiritual Life." Proverbs 6: 6 - 8 teaches us to learn from the diligence and discpline of the ant:
Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.
While the queen ant is the center of the ant colony, and the matriarch of most of the worker ants, she is not the chief ruler. Instead, work is initiated by servant-leaders who lead by example. The servant-leaders are older ants who start each new activity in the colony by doing work themselves. The younger ants imitate the servant-leaders and join in the labor. There are no supervisors, chiefs, officers or overseers among the ants.
What a great lesson we learn from a small, simple creature who illustrates the creative principles of God, that is, He has made His people to be "fellow-laborers" together in the harvest of His kingdom. Every member of the body of Christ is essential and important to the work of God. When each one puts their skills and abilities into action, the entire church is edified and expanded. There should be no need for captains, rulers or overseers in God's church. Every member should follow the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit in conviction, direction and transformation. Supervisors will not always lead you in the right direction, but the Holy Spirit will never lead you down a wrong path. When everyone binds together the greatest of tasks are easily accomplished.
Although by human standards the ant is weak, compared to its own weight the ant is stronger than any man. Ants can carry up to 50 times its own weight over hundred yards.. That is equivalent to a 200-pound man carrying five tons on his back for a distance of seventeen miles.
The ant teaches us that what may seem impossible and improbable to man, is but a small thing to God.

Spiritual Power
Tonight's Bible Study will deal with the concept of Spiritual Power. This lesson is a part of our ongoing study of Biblical Principles and is an important aspect of relational lifestyles. The story is told of Jim Wimber, a product of the Jesus Movement in the 60's. Wimber met Christ in a dynamic way, and began reading the the New Testament, starting with the Gospels and then on to the book of Acts. He was excited about what he read. However, his first experience with church caused some disillusionment. The polite and orderly servce was brief and structured. When it concluded, Wimber looked at some of the people around him and said; "When are you gonna do the stuff? What Stuff?" they wanted to know. He said, "You know . . . the Stuff? He had been reading abou the conversions, healings, deliverance and other miracles that took place in the early church, recorded in the book of Acts. However, instead of signs and wonders (he saw no sign of anything that would make him wonder) he saw only the deadness of rituals.
Jesus declared in Acts 1:8 that His disciples would receive power. The church, today, needs to discover that we have power. That power is found in a relationship with Christ through the expression and baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Skectch Art Class
The CCC creative arts program concluded it's second course last evening. The sketch art class was a tremendous learning experience. Instructor, Terry Ikner, did a fabulous job and we appreciate his insight and God-given talents. The class proved to be a showcase for the many talented members who are part of the CCC family. The next scheduled course will be an introduction to computers. If you would like to enroll, please let us know.
