Tonight's Bible Study will deal with the concept of Spiritual Power. This lesson is a part of our ongoing study of Biblical Principles and is an important aspect of relational lifestyles. The story is told of Jim Wimber, a product of the Jesus Movement in the 60's. Wimber met Christ in a dynamic way, and began reading the the New Testament, starting with the Gospels and then on to the book of Acts. He was excited about what he read. However, his first experience with church caused some disillusionment. The polite and orderly servce was brief and structured. When it concluded, Wimber looked at some of the people around him and said; "When are you gonna do the stuff? What Stuff?" they wanted to know. He said, "You know . . . the Stuff? He had been reading abou the conversions, healings, deliverance and other miracles that took place in the early church, recorded in the book of Acts. However, instead of signs and wonders (he saw no sign of anything that would make him wonder) he saw only the deadness of rituals.
Jesus declared in Acts 1:8 that His disciples would receive power. The church, today, needs to discover that we have power. That power is found in a relationship with Christ through the expression and baptism of the Holy Spirit.
